The Karilagan Singers, established in 1992, is a church-based socio-cultural performing group composed of Filipino migrant workers based here in Rome, Italy; bound together by their common love for music. It aims to promote the rich tradition of Filipino choral music in this part of Europe.
The group participates in many events organized by the different Filipino and Italian communities here in Rome, as part of its commitment to serve not only the church but the fellow migrants as well. Karilagan’s growing popularity within the international community here is evident in numerous invitations it has been receiving from many Italian parishes and different migrant groups based in the city. Singing in gatherings of other communities, Filipinos and non-Filipinos alike, has been the choir’s way of showcasing the Filipino talent to the world.
Karilagan sings regularly at the Basilica of Sta.Pudenziana in Rome, home of the Sentro Filipino.
